Shania Twain ‘wasn’t really enjoying her success’ for the better part of her career.
The 47-year-old Canadian country crooner sold more than 40 million copies of her 1997 album Come On Over.
She is now happily married to her husband of two years Frederic Thiebaud and she has an 11-year-old son named Eja from a previous relationship.
With her Shania: Still the One concert series at Caesers Palace in Las Vegas getting ready to commence this weekend, the star reflects on how she’s grown in recent years
“For a good 10 to 12 years, I was working non-stop and I wasn’t really enjoying my success,” Shania told USA Today.
“What was there to enjoy about it, really? I wondered, ‘What is success exactly?’ ”
Despite her reservations about her career, Shania plodded on.
“I won’t lie, I’ve had a lot of discouraging moments in the past years, moments I wasn’t sure about things and doubted myself. I didn’t know Vegas was where I’d end up at the end of my climb up that big mountain of life, but here I am.
“I had to put one foot in front of the other in order to move forward. I said to myself, ‘You’re going to have to force yourself a little bit and face some fears in order to get to the next stage.’ And that allowed me to commit to the Vegas idea. To really embrace it.”
Shania: Still the One is a two year string of performances at the famous hotel on the Las Vegas Strip.
