First Lady Michelle Obama has sent soul singer Sharon Jones a thank you note for a copy of one of Jones’ records.
Jones had apparently sent Obama a copy of one of her albums. While posting a copy of the letter – which was dated July 6, 2012 – on the band’s official Facebook page, Jones wrote:
“Wow! Check this out! I just got a hand signed note from the First lady Michele Obama on the white house letterhead thanking me for my record, and my thoughtfulness. Thank you first lady!”
The letter reads:
Dear Sharon:
Thank you so much for the record. It was such a nice gesture, and I hope you know how much I appreciate your thoughtfulness.
The support of people all over the country continues to amaze me, and I am filled with a great sense of hope for our shared future. Again, thank you for your kindness. I wish you all the best.
Sincerely,
Michelle Obama
Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings’ latest album is Soul Time. It is a collection of non-album tracks from throughout their ten year career.
