Austin based singer-songwriter Shawn Colvin says she is looking forward to returning to Australia to perform at Bluesfest in 2013.
In an interview with Noise11.com, Shawn said her setlist still reaches back to her Grammy Award winning debut album ‘Steady On’ from 1989 but she also keeps the show fresh with songs from the recent ‘All Fall Down’.
‘All Fall Down’ is a somewhat different record for Shawn who says she choose to work with other songwriters when she put the album together.
‘Seven Times The Charm’ was co-written with Jakob Dylan from The Wallflowers and ‘Change Is On The Way’ with her friend from Austin, Patti Griffin.
Shawn was surprised to learn that Patti’s other half Robert Plant will be headlining Bluesfest in 2013. Plant has been based in Austin as well ever since marrying Patti.
Shawn described being a Simpsons character (she played Rachel Jordan in two episodes) as probably “the coolest thing I’ve ever done, at least to some people”.
Shawn Colvin will perform at Bluesfest on the Easter long weekend as well as sideshows:
March 31, Sydney, The Basement
April 1, Melbourne, The Corner Hotel
