Sheppard stay atop the Australian Singles chart for a third week with “Geronimo”.
The band also moves from Gold (last week) to ▲ Platinum this week, whilst the groups’ original self-titled EP, featuring “Let Me Down Easy” (HP-18) returns at No.84 too.
Sia holds at No.2 for a second week with “Chandelier”, whilst current tourist to our shores Jason DeRulo debuts at No.3 with his new single “Wiggle” featuring Snoop Dogg, the track taken from the newly repackaged edition of his “Tattoos” album (TW-13), the bonus disc featuring this new track. It becomes Jason’s twelfth Top 10 hit and also his fifth Top 3 single, plus it’s also his seventh achievement for ‘Highest New Entry of the Week’ and the sixth single from his current album. The song also becomes the third ‘Wiggle’ to reach the Top 10, the others being “Wiggle it” for 2 in a Room (HP-3, April 1991) and The Outhere Brothers with “Don’t Stop (Wiggle Wiggle)” (HP-5, August 1995)
Calvin Harris spends a second week at No.4 with “Summer”, whilst his girlfriend Rita Ora leaps up eleven places to a new peak of No.5 with “I Will Never Let You Down”, becoming her highest charting single in Australia and third Top 10 placing. Her previous entries to the ten were “How We Do (Party)” (HP-9, peaked July 2012) and “R.I.P.” (HP-10, peaked October 2012).
Pharrell Williams drops three places to No.6 with “Happy”, which also racks up 7x▲ Platinum, whilst down a place to No.7 is Jessica Mauboy with “Never Be the Same”, and also picking up a ▲ Platinum certification are Peking Duk with “High”, which is down three spots to No.8. Clean Bandit are down two places to No.9 with “Rather Be” and moving up five to land at No.10 is Justin Timberlake with “Not a Bad Thing”, becoming his fourteenth Top 10 hit in Australia, with Justin’s last Top 10 coming 51 weeks ago when “Mirrors” made it to No.10 for a single week in the first week of May 2013.
NEW PEAKS & MOVERS: Seven weeks ago, Iggy Azalea debuted at No.19 with her latest single “Fancy”, which this week is back up six places to a new peak of No.17 and achieves Gold (●) in sales too, whilst the other Top 20 peaking track is Route 94 with “My Love”, up a place to No.19. Katy Perry jumps up eight places to No.34 with her new track “Birthday”, and another of last weeks entries, “Hearts on Fire” for Passenger is up six to a new peak of No.38. Further Top 50 peaks come via Chris Brown with “Loyal” up to No.42 and the new Lana Del Rey track “West Coast” leaps up twenty places to land at No.44.
DOWN DOWN: After a single week inside the Top 10, both “Replay” for Zendaya and “Tsunami (Jump)” for DVBBS leave, dropping to No.11 and No.15 respectively, whilst they both also pick up Gold (●) sales certifications. The other Top 10 dropout is 5 Seconds of Summer with “She Looks So Perfect” (HP-1×1, WI10-8), falling four to No.13 this week. With a new Guetta track debuting, his former Top 10 hit “Shot Me Down” falls six to No.18, whilst falling eleven to No.24 is Gabrielle Aplin with “The Power of Love”. Joel Fletcher falls ten places to No.29 with “Loco” and last weeks highest new entry of “Up!” for Samantha Jade is down twelve to No.30. Aloe Blacc and “The Man” is down nine to No.33 and Kim Cesarion is down to No.36 with “Undressed” (now 2x▲ Platinum), and another of last weeks entries tumbles too, The Amity Affliction with “Pittsburgh”, down eleven places to No.39. Neon Jungle drop ten spots to No.43 with “Braveheart” and after leaping into the Top 40 last week, Ellie Goulding drops back down nine places to No.47 with “Beating Heart”. Cash Cash drop twelve to No.49 with “Take Me Home” and dropping out of the Top 50 this week are Rihanna with “Jump” (41 to 54), Illy with “Tightrope (49 to 59), John Martin and “Anywhere for You” (35 to 70) and leaving the Top 100 from last weeks Top 50 are Short Stack and “Television” (#47).
LA musician ZHU debuts at No.14 with his first ARIA Singles chart entry “Faded” taken from his EP “The Nightday” (TW-20), and a few places lower at No.21 are David Guetta with Showtek and Vassy and the song “Bad”, the follow-up to his recent No.3 single “Shot Me Down” (TW-18), plus this becomes his twenty-ninth Top 100 entry. One place lower at No.22 are OneRepublic with “Love Runs Out”, the bands ninth chart entry in Australia, and the fourth track released from their current album “Native” (TW-26). The final Top 50 entry of the week is within the same region, new at No.25 are Coldplay with “Midnight”, the second track released from their mid-May due sixth album “Ghost Stories”, with the first release “Magic” (HP-5) sitting at No.12 this week.
Lower 50: With the DVD/BR release of “The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug”, the end-titles theme from Ed Sheeran, “I See Fire” is back up fourteen places to No.52 this week. Chet Faker holds the No.1 album spot for a second week with “Built on Glass”, with the latest chart entry from the album “1998” leaping up twenty-six spots to No.55. OneRepublic jump back up twelve spots to No.68 with “Counting Stars” and Passenger sees his former No.1 single from this time last year, “Let Her Go”, climb back up eighteen to No.80. After falling for the past three weeks, the Jai Waetford track “Get to Know You” is back up fourteen spots to No.83 and apart from The Sheppard EP returning at No.84, other re-entries come from Lana Del Rey at No.87 with the Cedric Gervais remix of “Young and Beautiful”, One Direction at No.95 with “Story of My Life” and back in at #100 is Jason DeRulo with “Talk Dirty”, giving him four entries within the hundred this week, as he is also new at No.3 with “Wiggle”, the further down are “Stupid Love” at No.46 and “Trumpets” at No.51.
Pharrell Williams enters at No.53 with the second single from his “G I R L” (TW-10) album entitled “Marilyn Monroe”, becoming his fourteenth Top 100 chart entry, but scoring their first entry at No.60 are Milky Chance with “Stolen Dance”. We the Kings land their third chart entry, debuting at No.81 with “Just Keep Breathing”, with their previous entries being “Check Yes Juliet (Run Baby Run)” (HP-26, peaked May 2011) and “Say You Like Me” (HP-29, April 2012).
Alicia Keys and Kendrick Lamar debut at No.85 with “It’s On Again”, which is featured on The Amazing Spiderman 2 Soundtrack, and it becomes Alicia’s sixteenth chart entry on the ARIA Charts and the fifth for Kendrick. English band The Kooks debut at No.90 with “Down”, which is only their second entry for ARIA, as back in April 2008 they reached No.84 with “Always Where I Need to be”. The final new entry at No.99 is Avicii with Adam Lambert and Nile Rodgers with “Lay Me Down”, which breaks the string of hits released in order from his “True” album, as the first four releases were the tracks one to four, this new one is track eight.
