There looks to be no sign of “Geronimo” by Sheppard moving from the top of the Australian charts this coming weekend, as they’ve been cemented at the summit of several digital retailers for most of the week.
BUT Jason DeRulo is touring Australia as of this week, and his newly repackaged “Tattoos” album has an extra seven tracks, one of which is “Wiggle” featuring Snoop Dogg, and at the moment it could debut within the Top 5, maybe even at No.2, which would push down this weeks No.2 track “Chandelier” for Sia to most likely No.3.
Rita Ora climbed a little last week with “I Will Never Let You Down” (TW-16), but it could leap into the Top 5 this coming weekend alongside Calvin Harris’ “Summer”. Also on track for a possible Top 10 debut is the new track for David Guetta featuring Showtek and Vassy entitled “Bad”, whilst there’s also potential for the next Coldplay single “Midnight” to crack the Top 10, as both Bad and Midnight are currently selling at the high end of the chart. Also keeping their top ten status could be Peking Duk, Jessica Mauboy and Pharrell Williams, with Justin Timberlake and “Not a Bad Thing” a possibly entry to ten.
Route 94 moved up to No.20 this week with “My Love”, which could crack the Top 15 this weekend, whilst Iggy Azalea could climb into the Top 20 with “Fancy”, followed in the higher end of the Top 30 with the new OneRepublic track “Love Runs Out” and the first entry for ZHU with “Faded”, whilst if they are allowed to chart this week (as they haven’t been for the past three weeks) Tegan & Sara with The Lonely Island and their LEGO Movie there “Everything is AWESOME” would crack the Top 30 this week (last week it would’ve debuted in the Top 20).
Katy Perry should climb with “Birthday” (TW-42) into the Top 40, as too Lana Del Rey with “West Coast” (TW-64) and potentially landing a Top 40 debut would be Lily Allen with the title track from her forthcoming third album “Sheezus”. Jumping into the Top 50 could be another of last week’s new entries, Chet Faker with “1998” (TW-81).
Lower down: Pharrell’s “Marilyn Monroe” would have debuted in the Top 50 last week if allowed to chart, this week it’s just outside of the fifty, whilst Milky Chance could enter with their track “Stolen Dance” in the same region. With Sheppard at the top for potentially another week, their former Top 20 single “Let Me Down Easy” (HP-18) could return within the Top 70 this week, as too the new We the Kings track “Just Keep Breathing”. The passing of former boxer Rubin ‘Hurricane’ Carter this past week, has tweaked interest in the Bob Dylan song “Hurricane” (HP-7, peaked Feb 1976), whilst the new One Direction single “You and I” could both enter within the Top 80, whilst just outside the new Avicii track with Adam Lambert and Nile Rodgers “Lay Me Down” could sneak into the charts.
Albums: Chet Faker could hold his lead at No.1 on the Australian Albums chart this week with his album “Built on Glass”, with his biggest threat coming from the current UK No.1 album, the third for Scottish singer/songwriter Paolo Nutini with “Caustic Love”.
Possibly debuting high could be “You Make Me Brave (Live)” for the Bethel Music (church), whilst the ZHU EP “The Nightday” has fueled her single “Faded”, with the EP selling well also. Holding their Top 10 places should be the Frozen Soundtrack, Russell Morris, Harrison Craig, Pharrell and INXS, whilst we might see Jessica Mauboy climb into the ten with “Beautiful” (TW-17).
Current tourist Jake Bugg is on track to return to the charts with his self titled set (currently Top 20) and follow-up “Shangri-La” (currently Top 30), with recent tourist here Bruce Springsteen returning to the charts with his new “American Beauty (EP)”. Jason DeRulo’s repackaged “Tattoos” (TW-52) album, new single and tour here could push the album back up into the Top 20.
Further entries within the Top 50 could come via Royal Blood with their EP “Out of the Black”, C3 (Christian City Church Oxford) with “Saints”, Army of the Pharaohs and “In Death Reborn”, and the new EP from The Kooks “Down”. Whilst in the lower fifty we could see the new Michael Franti & Spearhead album “All People”, New Empire with “In a Breath” (both Top 60), the overlooked last week album for Swedish House Mafia “One Last Tour: A Live Soundtrack” and the new soundtrack for “The Amazing Spiderman 2” (both Top 70). There are also potential entries of “Food” for Kelis, “Lights Out” by Ingrid Michaelson, Boyce Avenue with “No Limits” (all Top 80), Bohjah with “Beautiful Wild” and the new Eels album “The Cautionary Tales of Mark Oliver Everett”.
