Shock Records have launched a new imprint known as Permanent Records, which has been set up to focus their attention on local independent music and they’re launching it with Steve Smyth.
The label will give Australian artists more attention and will join a roster that includes Daptone Records, Rough Trade and many more labels churning out some serious quality.
The first artist to join the hopefully soon to expand roster is Steve Smyth. Smyth’s husky vocals traverse minor keys invoking the haunting sounds of Tori Amos or Regina Spektor and his facial hair could, with a little more growth but not much more styling, enter the world beard championships.
