Sia is celebrating her move to a new record label by releasing her first Christmas album later this year.
The singer/songwriter recently signed a new contract with Atlantic Records and her first project on the label will be an album of original festive tunes.
“Sia is a once-in-a-generation artist. Her extraordinary gifts as a singer and songwriter, her revolutionary approach to the art of performing, her groundbreaking videos – everything she does comes from a deep wellspring of inspiration and imagination,” reads a joint statement from Atlantic Records bosses Craig Kallman and Julie Greenwald.
“Sia is that rare artist who has formed her own singular, boundless musical universe. We are so happy to welcome her into the Atlantic family and to be joining Sia on her amazing musical journey.”
Sia joins her former RCA label mate Kelly Clarkson at Atlantic, which also boasts Ed Sheeran, Bruno Mars, and Coldplay on its roster.
In addition to the Christmas album, Sia is reportedly directing Kate Hudson in a film titled Sister. The Chandelier hitmaker recently posted a picture of Hudson on set, showing off her new buzz cut.
“My girl @Katehudson being a delight on set,” Sia wrote in the caption.
Kate shared the same picture on social media, and remarked, “Freedom. Compliments of @siathisisacting #OurBeautifulDirector.”
Sia, who split from her movie producer husband Erik Anders Lang in December, previously spoke out about the film, which serves as her feature directorial debut, revealing it is based on a one-page story she wrote several years ago.
“I was too embarrassed to tell anyone I wanted to make a movie, because I thought it would be seen as a vanity project, because I was a singer,” she said in 2015. “Then… I made the Chandelier video, I realized that I was pretty good at directing, so I felt a little bit braver.”
