Former Silverchair singer Daniel Johns has pleaded guilty in a Newcastle court on drunk driving charges.
Johns pulled over in his black Jaguar on October and registered a blood alcohol reading of 0.126.
The 35-year old rock star has been ordered to undergo a traffic offenders program. He will reappear in court on February 26.
Johns was 12-years old when he formed Silverchair with his friends Ben Gillies and Chris Joannou. They achieved international fame with their debut album ‘Frogstomp’ reaching no 9 in the USA and the follow-up ‘Freak Show’ peaking at no 12 in America.
In Australia, Silverchair’s five albums have all reached no. 1 on the ARIA album chart.
Silverchair’s last album was ‘Young Modern’ in 2007. Silverchair have won 21 ARIA Awards.
In January, Daniel Johns was reported to be working on a solo album.
He was also heard this year on the recent 360 album on the track ‘Impossible’.
