Chicago Police Department representatives have confirmed authorities are on the lookout for Sinead O’Connor following suicide threats.
On Thursday (23Jun16) TMZ reported cops in the metropolis were hunting for O’Connor after family members called in to report she had threatened to kill herself by jumping off a bridge in The Windy City.
And a spokesperson from the Chicago Police Department verified with journalists at Entertainment Weekly authorities have issued an “all call” alert throughout the region to inform officers to be on alert for O’Connor’s whereabouts, however, an active citywide search has not yet been implemented.
The 49-year-old Irish musician allegedly phoned home to relatives in Dublin on Thursday to inform them of her plans for suicide, which prompted loved ones to notify authorities across the Atlantic for fears over her safety.
O’Connor, who has been open about her mental health issues in the past, sparked similar concerns for her welfare weeks ago, after she failed to return from a bike ride she set out on at 6am in Wilmette, Chicago on 15 May (16). The star’s family members were so concerned following last month’s disappearance, they called Chicago police to report her as a missing person the following day (16May16), but fortunately O’Connor was found by police hours after the missing persons report was initially placed.
O’Connor has promised to kill herself several times within the past year – in November (15) she posted a message on social media network Facebook saying she had taken an overdose amid a family drama.
