Skrillex could end up with the number one album in Australia this week while Gabrielle Aplin is up for number one single.
At the moment it’s a fight for the top spot this weekend between two contenders, Clean Bandit and Jess Glynne with “Rather Be”, who’ve been patiently waiting for the past four weeks at No.2, and recent visitor to our shores, Gabrielle Aplin and her rendition of “The Power of Love” (TW-8).
Aplin also benefits from the fact that Tuesday nights premiere on Channel 7 of the TV series ‘Resurrection’ has been playing the Frankie Goes to Hollywood cover during their promo’s for the show, which won its timeslot at 1.911 million viewers, but Clean Bandit has been selling well for most of the week, so we have to wait until the weekend to see the final result.
Former No.1 “Happy” for Pharrell should still be within the Top 5, along with David Guetta and “Shot Me Down” featuring Skylar Grey, whilst jumping up into the five should be The Chainsmokers with “#SELFIE” (TW-7). Peking Duk look set for a Top 10 berth with “High” (TW-13), and last weeks entry of “Summer” (TW-21) for Calvin Harris looks set to become his seventh Top 10 placing. A Great Big World could return to the Top 10, and Sara Bareilles should retain her place within the ten, whilst another of last weeks new entries, Sia with “Chandelier” (TW-39) could become her fourth Top 10 appearance, but the first as a solo artist (the other three were as guest vocalists on tracks by Flo Rida, David Guetta and Hilltop Hoods).
Coldplay could lose their Top 5 placing of “Magic” and drop down into the Top 20, whilst the just announced Australian Eurovision Representative Jessica Mauboy could continue to climb with her latest single “Never Be the Same” (TW-16). DVBBS and their track “Tsunami (Jump)” (TW-27) featuring Tinie Tempah looks set for a Top 20 jump this week, whilst the instrumental (non-Tinie) version is also within the Top 50. Zendaya jumped to No.37 this week with “Replay”, which could again zoom up the charts and into the Top 20, whilst it looks like Aloe Blacc and “The Man” (TW-10) could leave after only one week within the ten.
The new UK No.1 single and this week highest new entry, “I Got You” (TW-17) for Duke Dumont could tumble down into the Top 30, whilst the highest new entry could come from Brisbane band Sheppard and their new single “Geronimo” within the thirty. The UK No.1 from three weeks ago, “My Love” by Route 94 fell down to No.52 this past week, but it could rebound into the high end of the Top 40, and within the same chart-region could be MKTO with “American Dream” and the debut single for UK band Rixton “Me and My Broken Heart”.
The title track from the Skrillex album “Recess” (TW-49) should climb up this week, as too John Martin with “Anywhere for You” (TW-47), and debuting within the Top 50 could be Chris Brown with “Loyal (West Coast Version)” which features Lil’ Wayne & Too $hort, whilst the “(East Coast Version)” featuring Lil’ Wayne and French Montana is currently within the Top 80, and also new within the Top 50 could be Illy and Scarlett Stevens with “Tightrope”.
Lower: The Black Keys could enter within the Top 60 with their new track “Fever” and after returning at No.88 this week, “Into the Blue” for Kylie Minogue could climb back up into the Top 70 this weekend. 5 Seconds of Summer EP could see the tracks charting individually, with current Top 100 entrants being “Heartache on the Big Screen” (Top 80), their cover of The Romantics 1980 track “What I Like About You” (Top 90) and “The Only Reason” (Top 100) all currently selling. Also possibly scoring his second chart entry could be Dustin Tebbutt with his new track “Bones”, whilst just outside and ready to chart are 50 Cent with Yo Gotti on “Don’t Worry ‘Bout it” and Justin Timberlake with “Not a Bad Thing”.
Albums
At the moment, it looks like Skrillex could land his first No.1 album in Australia this coming weekend, as “Recess” (TW-5) could climb to the top, knocking off Kylie Minogue’s fourth No.1 “Kiss Me Once”.
Another of last weeks new entries could also climb into the Top 10, Iceland’s Asgeir with his debut English album “In the Silence” (TW-18), whilst the potential new No.1 single via Gabrielle Aplin could boost her album “English Rain” (TW-38) up into the Top 10 for the first time. Holding their Top 10 positions should be Katy Perry, Pharrell Williams, INXS and the ‘Frozen’ soundtrack, whilst Avicii could be the highest new entry, as his remix album “True: Avicii by Avicii”, a remixed version of his former No.1 album “True” could land within the ten (or be counted towards the original album).
Karl Jobe could debut high within the Top 20 with the album “Majestic”, and with MKTO here soon, their self-titled (and former No.1) album (TW-29) could be back within the twenty this weekend, with the same for A Great Big World and “Is There Anybody Out There?” (it dropped out this week) who’ve just announced an August tour of Australia.
Aloe Blacc could see his third album “Lift Your Spirit” become his second to chart in Australia this coming week (Top 30) and also new could be Memphis May Fire with “Unconditional”, The Pretty Reckless with “Lift Your Spirit” and Enrique Iglesias’ “Sex and Love” all within the Top 40, whilst Top 50 debut could come via Royal Blood with their EP “Out of the Black” and US rapper YG with “My Krazy Life”.
Lower down there’s potential for Future Islands to debut with “Singles” (Top 60), the soundtrack to the horror series “The Walking Dead” (Top 70), Allday with “Loners are Cool” (Top 80) and within the Top 100 we could see Tycho with his “Awake” album and local electro act RY X with his “Berlin” EP.
