Friends of Bob Starkie had a special treat on Saturday in St Kilda. Skyhooks reformed for Bob’s 60th birthday party.
Bob ‘Bongo’ Starkie was the original guitarist for Skyhooks and with the band for the entire history of the group.
The band members Freddie Strauks, Greg Macainsh, Bob Spencer and Red Symons all attended Bob’s 60th but Red left before the band got up to play.
Party guest, photographer and City of St Kilda Councillor Serge Thomann was there and tells us Skyhooks were joined by singer Laura Davidson to perform ‘Carlton’, ‘Balwyn Calling’, ‘Horror Movie’, ‘Living In The 70s’, ‘Women In Uniform’ and ‘All My Friends Are Getting Married’.
Unfortunately, there are no plans for this line-up of Skyhooks to do any public shows.
Skyhooks fans should keep an eye out for the new book ‘Shirl’ by Jeff Apter, out August 1, 2012.
