Soundgarden released their iconic album ‘Superunknown’ on March 8, 1994. This week, 20 years and one week on, they performed it live from start to finish for the first time ever at SXSW in Austin, Tx.
The SXSW performance was the ‘Superunknown’ album, nothing more, nothing less.
Soundgarden started with track 1 ‘Let Me Drown’ and ended with track 15 ‘Like Suicide’. The rarest played live track ‘Half’ had not been performed by Soundgarden since 1994. Including the SXSW performance, ‘Half’ had only ever played live 29 times.
‘Superunknown was Soundgarden’s biggest selling album. In the USA alone it sold of 7 million copies.
In 1994 the ‘Superunknown’ album reached number one in the USA, Australia and New Zealand and no. 4 in the UK.
Universal Music will reissue Soundgarden’s ‘Superunknown’ on May 30.
