Aston Shuffle DJs, Twinsy, Purple Sneaker DJs, Tyler Touché and triple J fave Lewi McKirdy have just been announced as the second round of artists for the new-look Soundscape Festival.
The latest additions will be joining The Temper Trap, Missy Higgins, Bluejuice, Yacht Club DJ’s, Big Scary, Strange Talk, Scryptcha, Mitzi, The Cairos, The Mornings and Asta, who were announced for the festival back in August.
Hosts of their weekly ‘Friday Night Shuffle’ on triple j, The Aston Shuffle DJs are still the reigning No.1 DJs after triumphing in Australia’s biggest DJ poll, the inthemix50. Their live show is said to be a sensory altering and visual-heavy production that has fast redefined the traditional role of the DJ in Australia.
Also appearing at Soundscape 2012 will be locals DJ Grotesque, Akouo, Adam Turner, Simon Lovell, Lids, DVEY, Charly Venn, Kenny Beeper, Wax Docta West and Clara Fantini, as well as local crews from Frequency, Recreational Thugs and Paperthin going head to head in a party-off.
With much of the action happening on Hobart’s waterfront mainstage, several of the latest additions will also be heading in for exclusive, just announced, sets in the Silent Disco, where festival goers will don headsets and opt for one of two channels, while Purple Sneaker DJs, Tyler Touché and Lewi McKirdy, along with the local Tassie DJs, battle it out in a bid to control their airwaves.
The inaugural Soundscape Festival was held in January 2008 on Hobart’s Regatta Grounds, host to an array of acts including The Living End, Grinspoon, Krafty Kuts and Spoon.
Since then, the festival has showcased the likes of PNAU, The Getaway Plan, Empire of the Sun, Roots Manuva and, most recently, UK dance pioneers Basement Jaxx, Pharoahe Monch and Midnight Juggernauts.
After shifting dates and location, this year will be the first one held in November and will take place over two days (16th/17th) at Hobart’s iconic Princes Wharf, Shed No. 1.
Tickets are available now through the festival’s website.
