Soundwave promoter AJ Maddah has called Victoria’s Premier Dan Andrews a “lying scumbag” over the public transport disaster set for the Soundwave Festival event in Melbourne next weekend in a series of provocative tweets.
Music fans heading to Soundwave, featuring major international artists Soundgarden, Faith No More, Marilyn Manson, Slash and The Smashing Pumpkins, will have limited options to get to and return from the event and Maddah is blaming the Vitcorian government for the lack of transport options.
Maddah slammed Andrews on Twitter for, what he claims is, pulling the public transport from 17 events including Soundwave next weekend and using threats to cover up the situation.
In a series of tweets on Saturday night Maddah said:
“Dear Victoria: Your premier and your transport department are lying scumbags who pulled the public transport from 15 events including #SW15
“No public transport for 14 events that may compete with City of Melbourne event for morons staring at the pretty lights…
“…while pick-pockets, perverts, drunken louts and quite possibly ISIS sympathisers prey on them. A Gov sponsored event with no bag checks…
“…no crowd density control, no pat downs…
“It gets even better: Dept of Environment, warned us IN WRITING, that we are NOT TO mention ‘No Public Transport’ & ‘not to complain’ or…
“…They would cancel #SW15. We will be going public with all documents on Monday. Imbeciles.
“The guy who pulled public transport from #SW15 and 14 other events this weekend, then lied, then used threats to cover up: @DanielAndrewsMP”
Public Transport Victoria has posted information on how to use the public transport system to get to and from Soundwave but, like the information at the Soundwave site, is directing punters to nearby railway stations and to use the shuttle buses.
A quick check of the public transport schedule for weekends reveals that trains do not ever run to the Melbourne Showground station during the evening but go the stop regularly throughout Saturdays and Sundays.
It is understood that if additional trains are required for a private event then it is at the expense of the promoter of the event.
Soundwave Melbourne will take place at the Melbourne Showgrounds on February 21 and 22.
