South African folk duo Connecting Stars are about to launch a reality TV show with a difference.
Unlike the usual “pick me for 15 minutes of fame” format of shows like The Voice and Idol, the winners of this show will be charities.
“It is going to be combining behind the scenes of our music. It is going to be combining charities and people making a difference and also showcase companies getting behind those charities,” Martin Engel said.
Cheryl and Martin Engel officially became Connecting Stars in 2012 but have been performing for over 10 years. Martin was formerly the bass player for South African band Tree63.
In hinting about the TV show Martin says, “We are excited to have some feelgood moments happening, little strains of Secret Millionaire and Extreme Makeover meet some of the music reality shows out there.”
Connecting Stars will perform showcase dates in the USA including New York, Nashville and Los Angeles from August 14-26.
