Southern Sons To Play First Shows in 25 Years for One Electric Day

by Paul Cashmere on June 3, 2019

in News

When Southern Sons reform for One Electric Day in November it will be their first shows in 25 years.

Southern Sons formed in Melbourne in 1989 but their entire recorded output was released in the 90s.

Lead singer Jack Jones was yet to turn 20 when the first Southern Sons album ‘Southern Sons’ was released in 1990. By the time he was 21 he had a double platinum album and three hit singles.

The Southern Sons story is a short one, just three albums and it was over. It is noted that the final album ‘Zone’ featured a song ‘Don’t Tell Me What’s Right’ with Colin Hay, whose own band Men At Work had a similar trajectory burning out after just three albums.

The hits of Southern Sons are:

Heart In Danger (1990, no 5)

Always and Ever (no 16, 1990)

Hold Me In Your Arms (1991, no 9)

Lead Me To Water (1992, no 36)

You Were There (1993, no 6)
