Steely Dan to Perform Five Shows featuring a Complete Different Album Each Night

Donald Fagen as the sole remaining member of Steely Dan will perform five Steely Dan / solo albums over five nights in Boston in October.

Fagen has selected the Steely Dan albums ‘The Royal Scam’ (1976), ‘Aja’ (1977) and ‘Gaucho’ (1980) as well as Greatest Hits plus his solo album ‘The Nightfly’ (1982).

‘The Royal Scam’ is an interesting choice as its only song of mass awareness is the opening track ‘Kid Charlemagne’.

The ‘Aja’ and ‘Gaucho’ shows are worth going back to back for. The masterpiece ‘Aja’ was included by the Library of Congress in 2010 to the United States National Recording Registry for its cultural, artistic or historical significance. It is also one of the 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die.

1980’s ‘Gaucho’, another masterpiece, featured the future classic ‘Hey Nineteen’.

Donald Fagen will also dedicate one of the nights to his first solo album, 1982’s ‘The Nightfly’.

Steely Dan will perform the five nights at Boston’s Orpheum Theatre from October 25 to November 1.
