Stephen Colbert was created send-up of the A-Ha ‘Take On Me’ video as a takedown of convicted political crook Paul Manafort.
Manafort if facing court as part of the Robert Mueller investigation into Russian election tampering and collusion with the Trump campaign.
Sketches from the court appearance this week fuelled the creative juices at Late Night with Stephen Colbert show into digging back to the music archives of 1984 for the first video from A-Ha for ‘Take On Me’ for A-Ha (feat. Mueller)’s ‘Take On Manafort’.
The original A-Ha video by British director Steven Barron used a new technique at the time called rotoscoping with live action footage traced over frames to give the impression of animation. The video used 3000 frames and took 16 weeks to complete.
A-Ha ‘Take On Me’ was a number one song in Australia and Norway, reached number two in the UK and number 10 in the USA.
