Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks are heading back to Australia for the first time since 2009 (although Malkmus was here with Pavement in 2010).
The five-date tour includes a stop at the Wave Rock Weekender festival in Hyden, Western Australia and four shows along the east coast and Perth.
In 2010 Pavement set the country alight with excitement as they brought their 90s indie rock around the country spurring fond memories of the teenage days of a bunch of now 30-somethings (like me), but Malkmus is a man of many talents. His band The Jicks are worthy of attention on their own right.
The band’s fifth album Mirror Traffic was made with fellow 90s proto-indie legend Beck in the role of producer and has gathered rave reviews everywhere.
If the last Jicks or Pavement tours are anything to go by, this will be the shoegazer gig of the year. Check ‘em out at:
