Steve Balbi was recruited by Fox Sports to compose the theme for Gus Worland’s ‘Cricket Tragic’. That turned into a gig to write the theme song for The Big Break and the riff from that has now evolved into the full track ‘Modern Love’.
The Big Break theme ran during lunch and tea time sessions during test matches. Balbi has taken it one step further and turned into ‘Modern Love’.
The Test cricket theme was recorded with members of the Sydney Symphony conducted by George Ellis. It premiered at a function at the Hordern Pavilion in front of cricketers Adam Gilchrist, Brett Lee and Ian Healy.
‘Modern Love’ is the first taste of Balbi’s upcoming ‘Humans’ album.
