Apple founder Steve Jobs will be awarded a posthumous Grammy Award.
Jobs was part of a group that included bandleader Dave Bartholomew and recording engineer Rudy Van Gelder as Trustee Award honorees and The Allman Brothers, Glen Campbell, Antonio Carlos Jobim, George Jones, the Memphis Horns, Diana Ross and Gil Scott-Heron as Lifetime Achievement Award honorees.
“This year’s honorees offer a variety of brilliance, contributions and lasting impressions on our culture,” said President/CEO of The Recording Academy Neil Portnow. “It is an honor to recognize such a diverse group of individuals whose talents and achievements have had an indelible impact on our industry.”
Jobs is receiving the Grammy for the work he did to create the products and technology that transformed the music industry with innovations as the iPod and iTunes.
The awards will be presented during Grammy Week on February 11, 2012.
