The new Steve Poltz album is a piss-take on the Aussie accent. He has called it ‘Noineen Noiny Noin’.
Poltz recorded the album in Perth on his last Australian tour and thought it fitting to give the title an Australian flavour. “I came to Australia many moons ago and recently I asked one of the promoters what year it was when I first came over. He said, (in his best country Australian accent) ‘Oi reckon it was about Noineen Noiny Noin (1999)’ So I thought to myself, holy heck! That’s a great title for my album!,” he said.
‘Noineen Noiny Noin’ began three years ago with Malcolm Clark from The Sleepy Jackson. Steve recruited Western Australian musicians to play on the records.
This week, Steve returns Australia for a national tour this week and will be selling the album at his shows and via iTunes. Fans at the show will get a bonus disc with the album titled ‘Noineen Noiny Noin and a Haff’.
