There has been an outpouring of love and admiration in response to the death earlier today of Sopranos star James Gandolfini.
Gandolfini died at the age of 51 while in Italy from either a heart attack or a stroke (reports vary).
Two veteran artists who were well known for their work on the show have already issued comments. Steven Van Zandt of the E-Street played made man Silvio Dante for the full six years that the series was on the air. Van Zandt took to his Facebook page to make his statement:
“I have lost a brother and a best friend. The world has lost one of the greatest actors of all time. Maureen and I send our deepest sympathy and love to Deborah, Michael, Lily, and all of Jimmy’s family.” – Stevie
The band Journey may not have worked on the show directly, but their recording of Don’t Stop Believin’ was used over one of the most famous scene of the Sopranos run, the blackout at the end of the final episode. They posted their sentiments on their webpage:
It’s truly an honor to have been able to share one of the greatest moments ever in TV history with James Gandolfini. He was an amazing actor – taken way too young – and he’ll be missed. Our condolences go out to his family.
