Fleetwood Mac’s Stevie Nicks has been selected by Broadcast Music International (BMI) as the 2014 recipient of their Icon Award.
The Icon Award is given to individuals “because of their unique and indelible influence on generations of music makers.” Nicks will receive the award during the organization’s BMI Pop Awards on Tuesday, May 13 at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel.
Barbara Cane, BMI VP and General Manager of Writer/Publisher Relations said “Stevie Nicks is an extraordinary songwriter and pedigree artist of stunning genius and unwavering grace, on and off the stage. She has defined an era of pop and rock culture around the world with her brilliance and unforgettable magnificence.”
Previous Icon Award winners include Paul Simon, Carole King, David Foster, John Fogerty, Kris Kristofferson, the Jacksons, Crosby, Stills & Nash, the Bee Gees, Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, Brian Wilson, Carlos Santana and Dolly Parton.
