If you have been hearing the ‘Stevie Wonder for Bluesfest’ rumours you can forget about it happening. Wonder has extended his US tour and will now be playing in Austin, Texas on the Easter long weekend.

Bluesfest speculation always gets tongues wagging in Australia, especially with the multiple artist announcements meaning there is always someone else to join the bill. Talk of Stevie Wonder for Bluesfest 2015 was high just be Christmas but it won’t be happening.

Stevie Wonder is extending his tour playing the classic 1977 album Songs in the Key of Life with new dates running from mid-March to mid-April.

Wonder kicked off the tour in early November at Madison Square Garden with his set list being a straight play through of the epic 2-CD/1-EP album. While fans may initially be upset that more of Wonder’s other hits aren’t included (he did perform Superstition at the end) but Songs is so full of classic tracks that it shouldn’t matter. The album includes Sir Duke, I Wish, Another Star, As, Love’s in Need of Love Today, Pastime Paradise, Isn’t She Lovely and If It’s Magic.

The recognition of the album continues next month with the Recording Academy special Stevie Wonder: Songs in the Key of Life – An All-Star Grammy Salute which will see Wonder’s music performed by the likes of Chris Martin, Ed Sheeran, Willie Nelson, Usher and Janelle Monet.

Bluesfest Melbourne Day Two was a rollercoaster ride. There was so much great music packed into one day that it was impossible to see it all.
