Stevie Wonder will join a long list of artists who have started doing entire performances of their classic albums when he sings the complete Songs in the Key of Life.
Wonder will perform his classic album at the House of Full Toys benefit in Los Angeles. The concert is scheduled for December 21 at the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live.
This is the 18th year for the show which benefit’s Wonder’s We Are You Foundation which donates to the Junior Blind of America. Unwrapped toys are collected at the concert.
Wonder plans on using many of the same musicians for the show that recorded with him on the original 1976 album.
Wonder said at a Tuesday news conference, “This is my celebration of song, life and love. What is amazing to me is how relevant this album is today. After all, I could never write all the songs in the key of life; but there will be others who will carry on the message of song, love and life.”
