Producer and record executive Suge Knight was one of three people shot at a pre-VMA party hosted by Chris Brown and Pia Mia in Hollywood.

Around 1:30 AM, shots rang out at the party at 1 Oak, hitting Knight, a 32-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman. Depending on the report, Knight was hit between two and six times, including one shot to the stomach, but was able to walk out of the club with assistance to be transported to the hospital.

The gunman remains at large.

Chris Brown acknowledged the shooting in a Tweet, saying “It’s disappointing that we as a society can’t have fun or enjoy ourselves without any altercations sometimes. Miss me with the bulls–t!!!”

Brown had posted an open invitation to the party earlier in the day on his Instagram account; however, MTV followed with their own statement disavowing any connection between the network or the VMA’s with the party.

Some witnesses also claim that the shots were meant for Brown and/or Justin Bieber.

The New York Daily News reports that Knight was in ICU after emergency surgery but was expected to fully recover.

Knight, Dr. Dre and The D.O.C. formed Death Row Records in 1991 which soon became a major force in rap/hip-hop music. He has had a long history of altercations and arrests on a number charges.
