Canadian electro artist Grimes and Sydney’s proto-grunge legends The Sunnyboys lead the Meredith line-up announcement for 2014.
Grimes will be bringing her electro sounds to the supernatural amphitheatre for the first time, presumably to take to the stage late at night.
Her third album Visions is out now through 4AD and has been lauded as one of the finest examples of modern pop in recent times. Her live show will undoubtedly be something worth remembering.
For those of you who aren’t so interested in the latest sounds, Sydney band The Sunnyboys will return to Victoria for the first time in twenty one years to play at the twenty second Meredith. That’s one hell of a long time between drinks.
The band played their first gig anywhere in Sydney recently after being invited by the Hoodoo Gurus to join the Dig It Up tour (they only accepted for the one show, much to the dismay of their fans elsewhere) and those who were in the audience certainly didn’t have a bad word to say about it.
So Meredith, hey? It is upon us again, but “When?!” I hear you ask.
Well, just keep December 7, 8 & 9 free and you’ll be safe. Maybe the 10th too just for a recovery day.
How do I get tickets? I hear there is some kind of ballot-like thing.
That’s right, there is a ballot-like thing that is so much like a ballot it is an actual ballot. You can enter it by heading over to: http://www.mmf.com.au. I’d get on that before 10pm, Sunday August 12 if I were you.
The Sunnyboys and Grimes are great and all, but that’s not it, is it? I mean that’d just be two bands at a three day festival! That’s just silly!
Right again boyo and/or girlo, but Aunty Meredith likes to keep us all guessing. All will be revealed in time. There will be 30 bands playing on the single stage in the supernatural amphitheatre and chances are, you’re going to like at least one of them.
