Australian 70s pop rock Supernaut have reformed for shows in Sydney and Melbourne in June.
Perth’s Supernaut with original members Gary Twinn, Chris Burnham, Joe Burnham, Philip Foxman and Noel Kennedy had a Countdown fuelled national hit on Australia in 1976 with ‘I Like It Both Ways’.
The song reached no 5 in Australia after the band’s Countdown appearance after host Molly Meldrum had talked them up to Polydor Records.
The follow-up ‘Too Hot To Touch’ was also a Top 20 hit in Australia.
Supernaut’s debut album was certified Gold in Australia and they won two TV Week King of Pop awards but within two years of that first hit the band had been deemed out of flavour with the public.
After leaving Polydor, Supernaut signed with Robbie Porter’s Wizard Records and changed their name to The Nauts. They disbanded in 1980.
Supernaut reformed for Countdown Spectacular 2 in 2007 and have reformed for the June shows to mark the 40th anniversary of ‘I Like It Both Ways’.
Supernaut dates
June 16th Sydney, The Basement
June 17th Sydney, Bridge Hotel
