Artists wishing to attend the SXSW Music Conference and Festival in 2014 may now apply.
Applications are now open for artists all over the world to showcase at SXSW in Austin, Texas on March 2014 via Sonicbids. In 2013 2,325 acts showcased at the conference. Over 600 were non-USA acts from 55 countries.
Australia is the third most represented country at SXSW after the USA and UK. Over 250 Australian acts applied to showcase at SXSW this year. 74 were invited and over 40 attended.
Australian acts at SXSW 2013 included 360, Blackchords, Atlas Genius, The Audreys, Vaudeville Smash, The Rubens, Vance Joy, Seth Sentry and Gold Fields.
Artist music genres accepted for the festival include Acoustic, Alternative, Americana, Avant-garde, Bluegrass, Blues, Classical, Comedy, Country, Electronic/Dance/DJ, Folk, Funk, Gospel, Hip-Hop/Rap, Jazz, Latin, Metal, Pop, Punk, Reggae, Rock, Singer/Songwriter, Urban/R&B, and World.
SXSW is attended by over 25,000 music industry delegates from around the world and up to 500,000 music fans.
