SXSW artist submission for showcases opened two weeks ago and already 30 Australian and New Zealand acts have applied to showcase.
SXSW has a new system for submissions for the 2018 event. Artists now apply directly to SXSW instead of going through Sonicbids.

SXSW Australian and New Zealand rep Phil Tripp says, “Australian artists are urged to apply as early as possible to get preferential online auditioning as well as early acceptance facilitating visa planning, grants deadlines and working with SoundsAustralia on the Aussie BBQ and other showcasing/networking programs as well as getting the edge to play private parties and events”.
Relevant dates are:
• SXSW 2018 Early Deadline: Friday, September 8, 2017 at 11:59PM PT (US$35 fee)
• SXSW 2018 Final Deadline: Friday, October 20, 2017 at 11:59PM PT (US$55 fee)
Meet ‘n’ Greets for potential travellers to SXSW will be held in Sydney and Melbourne soon. The Sydney date is 1 August at the Lansdowne Hotel in Chippendale.
For Melbourne the date is August 2 at The Corner Hotel starting at 5:30.
Registrations for delegates to our four conferences and festivals (Music, Interactive, Film and our newest, Comedy) open the first week of August.
