Artists wishing to apply to showcase at SXSW in Texas have until October 11 to do so.
Artists thinking of showcasing at SXSW need to have an EPK (electronic press kit) ready to upload to SonicBids.
In 2013, 2,325 acts performed at SXSW including 600 non-USA acts from 55 countries. 240 Australian acts applied, 70 were invited and 40 were able to make the trip to Austin, Texas for the conference.
According to Australia SXSW representative Phil Tripp, “The Australian artists have the resources of industry export promotion body Sounds Australia behind them which sets up additional shows in addition to the sole official showcase each band gets as well as a stand and networking events. These bands have the opportunity to play for 25,000+ industry attendees, including 3,000+ media representatives that attended last year’s event, and of course, thousands of fans”.
The 28th South by Southwest music conference and festival is on from March 11-16 in Austin, Texas.
