Sydney singer/songwriter Lucy Mason has won a 2013 UK Songwriting Contest with her song ‘Sirens’.
The UK Songwriting Contest was launched in 2002 in association with the BRIT Trust and this year in its 12th year attracted over 50,000 songs. The contest is judged by respected Grammt, Emmy, CMA and Brit Award producers including Sting’s producer Kipper Eldridge, Elton John’s producer Stuart Epps and Britney Spears’ Musical Director Simon Ellis among others.
Lucy’s song ‘Sirens’ won for the Adult Contemporary category.
Lucy was raised in Sydney’s Northern Beaches suburb of Newport. She has been playing guitar since the age of 13 and cites Radiohead, The Cranberries, Smashing Pumpkins and No Doubt as her major influences.
In 2011, Lucy visited the UK and was offered a support on the Jamie Cullum Forum show. It earned her her first live concert review from Q Magazine. Lucy has also toured the UK with Australia’s Matt Corby.
Lucy Mason independently released her debut EP and has been working on a second EP to be released shortly. She also independently produced the video for ‘Sirens’.
