The vocal group Take 6 is scheduled to be the first American vocal group to perform in Cuba since the reopening of diplomatic relations.
The group, made up of Claude McKnight, Mark Kibble, Joel Kibble, Dave Thomas, Alvin Chea and Khristian Dentley, will perform at the Karl Marx Theater in La Habana on September 26 as part of the Les Voix Humanies Festival. This marks a new era in American musical performances as Cuba is once again available to US travelers and trade. Both Cuban and American dignitaries are expected to be in attendance.
Take 6, whose a cappella music spans pop, R&B, jazz and gospel, released their self-titled debut in 1988 and have since released 12 studio albums. They recently announced that they will be releasing a new single, When Angels Cry, via SoNo Recording Group/Universal and will follow with a new album next year. They are ten-time Grammy Award winners along with ten-time winners at the Dove Awards.
