Tame Impala’s Cameron Avery Signs To Anti- For Solo Record

Tame Impala bass player Cameron Avery has signed a solo deal with Anti- Records.

Anti- is already talking up the Perth bass player calling Cameron Avery “a new breed of nocturnal crooner”.

The first song ‘C’est Toi’ was released this week.

The ‘C’est Toi’ video was directed by Mike Bennet and Nathan Lewis (aka Joy Collective).

“We shot it it in between New York and LA in some spare time I had between touring, “ Avery explains. “Lotsa late night, guerrilla filmmaking from Mike and myself but it turned out okay. It’s a love song I wrote about when I fell in love the last time.”

Avery says his solo sound sounds nothing like Tame Impala. “I wanted to make something that sounded like the old records I love. Johnny Hartman, Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, Sarah Vaughan, Etta James—the big band stuff, but a bit more bare-bones lyrically,” he said.

The yet-to-be-named Cameron Avery album will be released in 2017.
