Taylor Swift knocked back a teen leukemia patient who asked her to be his prom date… but returned with a far better counter-offer.
New Jersey teenager Kevin McGuire is battling leukemia for the second time and his older sister Victoria petitioned through Facebook to get the country megastar to be his prom date.
Taylor responded on Facebook as well, writing, “Kevin, I’m so sorry but I won’t be able to make it to your prom.
“But”, she continued, “I was wondering, the ACM Awards are coming up.. Would you be my date? Love, Taylor.”
The 47th Academy Of Country Music Awards kicks off on April 1 in Las Vegas, hosted by Reba McEntire and Blake Shelton.
Swift is nominated for Entertainer Of the Year, Female Vocalist Of The Year, and Video Of The Year for her Grammy-winning ‘Mean’.
USA Today reports that McGuire accepted the offer from his hospital bed in Philadelphia.
“Obviously I said yes,” he said, “[It] is a lot better than the senior prom.”
He was unsure if he would be well enough to attend, but he certainly planned to celebrate somehow: “I’m in a hospital room, so I don’t know how I can celebrate, but I’m going to have a few friends over.”
