Taylor Swift has used the remainder of her $1 million (£820,000) pledge to help four charities in flood-hit Louisiana.

The floods in the southern state killed at least 13 people and damaged tens of thousands of homes and businesses in August (16), and was one of the worst natural disasters to hit the U.S. in recent years.

Taylor Swift pledged to give $1 million (£820,000) to causes across the state, which has included schools and food banks. And this month, she used the remaining funds left in her pledge to help Convoy of Hope, The Life of a Single Mom and YWCA Greater Baton Rouge.

The 26-year-old also gave $100,000 (£82,000) to Habitat for Humanity, which hopes to rebuild 100 homes in Baton Rouge by the end of next year (17), People.com reports.

The Life of a Single Mom charity thanked Taylor in a statement on their website and said they were grateful to receive the much-needed donation.

“Our hearts are overwhelmed by the outpouring of support for single moms. We are grateful to Taylor Swift for reaching out to help us ensure that no single mom walks alone during this very difficult time,” the wrote.

“The devastation across southeast Louisiana has been unbelievable. We are thankful for the opportunity to serve more single moms with this gift.”

Dianna Payton, CEO of YWCA Baton Rouge, also thanked the singer for her generous gift on their website and said the funds would be used to help repair one of their facilities that were damaged in the floods.

“The generous donation from Taylor Swift could not have come at a better time for our organisation. These funds will be put to great use as we continue working to restore our Early Head Start facility that was damaged during the historic flooding last month, and continue our critical work of providing access to high quality early childhood services,” she wrote.

“Thank you, Taylor Swift, and to all those at the Taylor Swift Foundation, for your kindness and generosity in these challenging times.”

To date, Swift has donated to at least seven charities in the Baton Rouge area. In September, the pop star selected the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank, the Salvation Army and Ascension Public Schools as recipients.
