Taylor Swift Pals Up With Apple For Streaming

Taylor Swift is ‘happily’ allowing Apple Music to stream her album 1989.

The 25-year-old singer penned an open letter on her Tumblr account to the music giant last week in which she slammed its decision not to pay musicians for songs streamed during the free three-month trial period the service offers to customers.

After reading her note Apple Music changed their policy and in light of the company deciding to pay artists during the trial period, Taylor has allowed her LP 1989 to stream with them.

‘After the events of this week, I’ve decided to put 1989 on Apple Music…and happily so,’ she wrote on Twitter Thursday. ‘In case you’re wondering if this is some exclusive deal like you’ve seen Apple do with other artists, it’s not.

‘This is simply the first time it’s felt right in my gut to stream my album. Thank you, Apple, for your change of heart.’

In her Tumblr letter, Taylor explained she was fighting more for up-and-coming artists than herself. Within 24 hours of the blog entry going viral, Apple’s senior vice president of internet services and software Eddy Cue announced a change in policy.

“When I woke up and read Taylor’s note, it solidified quickly that we needed a change,” Eddy told Rolling Stone. “Music is a big part of our DNA and we always strive to make sure artists are paid for their work.”

Taylor was thrilled by the confirmation and immediately took to her own page on the social media site to express her joy.

“I am elated and relieved. Thank you for your words of support today. They listened to us,” she wrote last weekend.
