Ted Nugent is defending the indefensible, the brutal slaughter of Cecil The Lion by Minnesota dentist Walter Palmer.
Palmer admitted to killing a collared lion who was a national tourist attraction in Zimbabwe after placing photos of himself next to the animal he slaughtered.
According to accounts, Palmer paid $50,000 to go big game hunting with two experts and, after luring Cecil the Lion out of a protected area with meat, shot him with a bow and arrow. They then tracked the lion for fifty hours before they were able to put the creature out of its misery with a gun.
Ever the vigilant gun rights supporter, Ted Nugent weighed in on the controversy on his Facebook page after a reader asked “What is your thoughts on Cecil the Lion and Walter Palmer Ted?”
Ted replied, “the whole story is a lie. It was a wild lion from a “park” where hunting is legal & ESSENTIAL beyond the park borders. all animals reproduce every year & would run out of room/food to live w/o hunting. I will write a full piece on this joke asap. God are people stupid”.
The statement received a majority of support from Ted’s fans with each statement receiving a few “thumbs up” but the vast majority of the affirmatives were given to those calling Ted out on his view.
Among the comments that received anywhere from two to ten times the thumbs of those in support of Ted:
Animals need to be protected . Trophy hunting is wrong and should be illegal.
Love your music Ted, and your support of the 2d amendment, but I don’t concur. This was not an ethical kill. I’m not calling for the heads of his children, or even his, but I still think he is an asshole for killing that lion. I will still enjoy listening to queen of the forest whenever I get a chance to put that one on, even though we don’t agree on this.
The man has admitted in a public statement to killing the lion, the story is no lie. I used to have respect for you, Ted and this is just one more of a long line of completely idiotic moments in the past few years that has made me turn away now have zero respect for you. You have gone off the deep end, and lost a fan who once held a high opinion of you.
It’s simply sick in the head to support Palmer who illegally lured the lion off it’s protected park with a rotting corpse dragged behind their vehicle.
Lions hunt and fight every day with nothing but their raw strength, instincts and courage. God forbid a trophy hunter should have to hunt or fight with nothing more than a wild animal has, his bare hands. Palmer is a coward and should do time in prison. You’re dead wrong on this one Ted. It’s sick and wrong to support illegal trophy hunting.
