The annual rock n’ roll charity footy match The Reclink Community Cup has announced its 2012 plans.
Last year the Rockdogs and Megahertz battled it out on the field, with musicians paying tribute to our very own Nick Cave. In 2012 the theme is ‘Can The Mega’s Do The Dogs’, in homage to legendary garage psychobilly sleazebags The Cramps.
Bands confirmed to play (and perform a Cramps classic) are 80s legends Blue Ruin out of retirement, Boomgates (featuring members of Eddy Current Suppression Ring, Dick Diver, and The Twerps) and all-girl rockers Bunny Munroe (notably named after the title character in Nick cave’s most recent novel). There will also be a final band added – the winner of SYN FM’s Free Kick band comp.
The game returns to Elsternwick Park this year, taking place on Sunday 24th June. Like them on Facebook to get more updates.
