The winners of The Age Music Victoria Genre Music Awards were revealed on Thursday night at Media House, Melbourne.
The Age Music Victoria awards recognise the work of artists from the state of Victoria. “Not many states in the world have such a depth of talent in so many different genres to even justify a Genre Awards”, said Music Victoria CEO Patrick Donovan. “These bands are the best of the best, and you can see them play at your local venue seven nights a week.”
Donovan also explained the need for awards programs. “Awards play an important role by recognising artistic achievements and giving a leg up to the most deserving acts, while acting as a filter for fans seeking out the best new music,” he said.
