The Beatles are back in the top ten albums in the U.S. with the album On Air: Live at the BBC, Volume 2 debuting at number 7.
Their last top ten debut was 2006’s Love which started at number 4. The album 1 did return to the top ten two years ago after it was made available in the iTunes store.
The new set gives the Fab Four their 31st top ten album, leaving them at number 4 on the list of artists hitting that level the most times:
Rolling Stones (36 top ten albums)
Frank Sinatra (33)
Barbra Streisand (32)
Beatles (31)
Elvis Presley (27)
The new release also propelled the original 1994 BBC set back onto the Album chart at 34.
A number of artists make big jumps up the chart including Cher, whose Closer to the Truth jumps 33 to 15 after her appearance on Dancing With the Stars, and both Mary J. Blige and the Vince Guaraldi Trio whose Christmas sets move big, Blige from 57 to 22 and Guaraldi from out of the top 200 to number 25.
Debuting at 147 is the new Christmas compilation from Elvis Presley, Merry Christmas…Love, Elvis. Even though Presley has released a long list of holiday albums, most of which were compilations of old material, this is only the eighth that has hit the Albums chart, due to Christmas themed releases being relegated to the Holiday chart for a number of years.
