The Beatles have released a previously unreleased version of ‘Come Together’ from the upcoming ‘Abbey Road’ box set.
‘Come Together’ Take 5 gives Beatles fans an insight into the recording of the song with John Lennon starting then stopping the song saying:
“He shut his eyes and came out on “wear no shoeshine”
(Don’t worry if you don’t get the vocal, just keep going)
Ok sorry
I get very involved, y’know?
Come Together – Take 5
‘Come Together’ became a controversial song for The Beatles. Chuck Berry’s publisher Morris Levy sued over the lyric ‘Here comes old flattop” claiming Lennon stole it from Berry’s ‘You Can’t Catch Me’. Lennon settled by recording ‘You Can’t Catch Me’ and other Berry songs for the ‘Rock and Roll’ album.
The Beatles ‘Abbey Road’ box set will be released next Friday 27 September 2019.
Previously released tracks are:
Oh Darling – Take 4
Something – Studio Demo
