The Chantoozies have covered the Motown classic ‘Take Me In Your Arms’ ahead of their Memo Music Hall date on 13 July.
Tim Henwood of Palace of the King produced the new Chantoozies version and The Chantoozies own Tottie Goldsmith edited the video.
‘Take Me In Your Arms (Rock Me a Little While) was a cover by the time the Doobies got hold of it in 1975. The song was written by Motown’s songwriting and production team Holland-Dozier-Holland. Eddie Holland recorded the original version in 1964. Motown act Kim Weston recorded it in 1965 and made it a Top 50 hit in the USA. Then the Isley Brothers recorded it in 167. Jermaine Jackson had a crack at it on his 1972 solo debut before the Doobie Brothers turned it into a rock song in 1975.
