The Drones will celebrate Bakehouse Studio’s 25th anniversary on July 16 as part of the Leaps and Bounds Festival.
Bakehouse will start celebrations at 6pm on the 16th with a free courtyard feast before moving the party upstairs for The Drones performance in the Scrap Museum.
“Bakehouse has always been our fave place to jam. We started going there about 2002 with The Drones and Dan Kelly’s band ’cause we lived down the road and it was dog friendly,” said Drones singer Gareth Liddiard. “It’s kinda where we met all of our friends including Helen and Quincy who are two of the most supportive and generous people anyone could hope to meet. It isn’t really surprising it’s been around for 25 years as it’s a bit of an institution nowadays. It’s like a hub or a second home for a big section of the Melbourne
music scene. A hub with shitloads of plants in it. Happy 25th Bakehouse!!!”
Quincy McLean and Helen Marcou set up Bakehouse in a derelict mansion and stables and transformed the building to Australia’s premiere rehearsal studio.
The full line-up for the part of the quarter century will be announced soon.
