After 5 years of gigging and putting together an amazing live show, Melbourne’s The Grand Rapids will release their debut album on October 18th and embark on an East Coast tour.
The Grand Rapids are a 60s influenced psych rock group whose live shows have been gaining a lot of attention. With their kaleidoscope projections, lasers and smoke machines creating an enveloping visual experience that perfectly encapsulates their music, they are primed for similar success as Money For Rope or Tame Impala.
Recorded and mixed by Callum Barter (British India, Money For Rope) at Melbourne’s Sing Sing Studios, their debut album ‘Great Shakes’ is a dark, brooding album with an undercurrent that is both uplifting and upbeat.
To be released in September, their third single ‘Julia Now’ sees them taking a slight departure from their usual fuzz-filled approach in favour of a more danceable number.
The Grand Rapids are Sasha L Smith (guitar and vocals), Daniel Hallpike (guitar), Deon Slaviero (bass), Keith Ratnan (drums) and part-time tambourine smasher Fabian Camerino.
In support of the album, the boys will be embarking on an East Coast tour of Australia taking in 3 dates.
Tour Dates
October 18th- Brighton Up Bar, Sydney
October 19th – Grand Central, Brisbane
October 26th – Yah Yah’s, Melbourne
