Congrats to indie band The Jezabels who have debuted at no. 2 on the ARIA chart with their debut album ‘Prisoner’.

The Jezabels

The Jezabels got there with good old-fashioned elbow grease. The Sydney band formed in 2007 when they were all students at the University of Sydney. Prior to ‘Prisoner’ they have released 3EPs.

The band has grabbed festival gigs for Big Day Out, Falls, Pyramid, Playground Weekender, St Jerome’s Laneway and Festival of the Sun. They were on Groovin’ the Moo and Splendour In The Grass this year.  They also played SXSW this year.

Had it not been for Adele, The Jezabels would have had a number one debut this week. Adele ‘19’ scored its 19th week on top of the Australian chart. Since the ARIA chart began, only four other albums have been at number one longer.
