The Logie Awards Are An Embarrassment And A Joke

The Logie Awards, what a complete waste of time that was.

The Logies hit rock bottom this weekend, not only for ignoring Australian musical talent, but by awarding vegetarian KFC commercial frontman Joel Madden with the Best Male New Talent award.

Madden, from pop group Good Charlotte, has been moonlighting in Australia in some reality TV music show.

It was bad enough that Australia’s equivalent to the Emmy Awards, the Logies, completely ignored Australia’s premium music talent to promote lesser worthy overseas newbies likes Olly Murs and Birdy, as well as wheeling out ratings trump card Michael Buble for the grandma vote, but to discredit Australian talent with an absurd nod to Madden and his reality TV show is totally embarrassing and disrespectful to the Australian industry.

Michael Buble was the only international artist qualified to take the stage. Birdy and  Olly Murs were purely there as a product placement.

The Logies have worn out its welcome. It is a disgrace to the Australian industry. The people behind this farce should be sent back to the desk jobs in the accounting firms they qualify to sit behind.
