On Friday Australia lost a rock legend with the passing of Jim Keays of The Masters Apprentices.
The Masters were Australia’s Rolling Stones and Jim was our Jagger.
This week Jim lost his seven year battle with myeloma.
The Masters Apprentices exploded onto the Australian charts in 1966 with ‘Undecided’. That was the start of a string of hits that went into the 70s before the band broke up in 1972.
Jim Keays was planning on reforming The Masters Apprentices with Glenn Wheatley in July for shows for The Go Show. The Go Show is expected to announce a tribute for Jim for the shows in Melbourne and Hobart next month.
Jim’s funeral arrangements will be announced over the next few days.
Here are seven great songs from The Masters Apprentices:
Masters Apprentices – Turn Up Your Radio
Masters Apprentices – Because I Love You
Masters Apprentices – Elevator Driver
Masters Apprentices – Living In A Child’s Dream
Masters Apprentices – 5:10 Man
Masters Apprentices – Undecided
Masters Apprentices – Buried and Dead
