Cali pop-punks The Offspring have released a ludicrously corny new single ‘Cruising California (Bumpin’ In My Trunk)’.
The Offspring are no strangers to advertising-jingle joke songs (see: ‘Pretty Fly For A White Guy’, ‘Original Prankster’, ‘Why Don’t You Get A Job’) but the pop mockery on their latest single ‘Cruising California (Bumpin’ In My Trunk)’ might be too much.
It begins with the Ramones’ clarion call ‘Hey ho, let’s go’, then they start rapping, referring to ‘cabooses’, have a Ke$ha sound-alike to do a ‘My Humps’ parody, and slip in a little Phantom Planet’s ‘California’.
Wow. It’s from their new album Days Go By, which is their first since 2008’s Rise And Fall, Rage And Grace.
Days Go By is due for release on June 26 but first sample the song below. We dare you. It’ll probably go to number one.
